Who I am

My name is Jesse, and I was born in Sudbury, Ontario. Throughout my youth, I had a growing interest in art, writing, and having a creative outlet. I would play with MS Paint, creating or editing images in ways that made me laugh.

By the time I reached high school, I started using Photoshop. One of the first things I created was an image of the glowing blade of a Lightsaber from Star Wars®. From there, I was hooked, and knew I wanted to continue doing this sort of thing far into my future. I would watch tutorial videos in the early days of YouTube, and build my knowledge and skills.

I moved to London in 2009, to attend the Multimedia Design and Production program at Fanshawe College. This was an incredible experience. Not only did I practice creativity, and confirm my strengths, but I also learned my weaknesses. This was where I first found that programming was not suited to my personality, but also that that’s OK. Most of us aren’t destined to be masters of all trades. I decided to move forward focusing on my strengths.

I moved to Ottawa in 2013, and landed my first job in my field shortly thereafter. I was earning a living doing work that I enjoyed and was good at. That is truly an excellent feeling.

I continued along this path, working various positions related to Graphic Design, and learning new skills along the way. I now have over a decade of experience in the field of Graphic Design, Digital Print Production, and Pre-Press. While no path is infinite, I intend to stay on this path. Perhaps at some point in the future, a change will be desired or required. I intend to reach that point being able to look back on the paths I took in life with pride and affirmation.
